It starts with a simple belief: what you eat should nourish more than your body, it should nourish your community.
This is the principle that drives us. In a world where the path from farm to table can be long and obscure, Rua Meats exists to bring clarity, trust, and connection back to your plate. We're not just in the business of selling meat. We're in the business of helping people choose better:
Better Health
Through food raised with integrity, free from shortcuts, and full of natural goodness.
Better Food
By celebrating the unparalleled quality that comes from ethical and sustainable farming.
A Better Future
By championing local farms, investing in honest practices, and ensuring that your food choices contribute positively to the world around us.
Our connection to Rua Meats began during the COVID period, when we learned the previous owner was ready to retire and hoped to pass the business to someone who shared a true sense of its value. What we found was much more than an abattoir. It was a legacy built through decades of dedication.
Before John and Barbra Rua shaped its reputation, the business operated as Chilvers Meat. In 1983 John took ownership and guided it with honesty, hard work, and deep community roots.
Coming from a healthcare background, our mission has always focused on strengthening communities and supporting well-being. Rua Meats offered a chance to continue that purpose in a meaningful way. We are committed to ethical sourcing, responsible practices, and quality meat trusted by local families.
When you choose Rua Meats, you choose a local partner with a clear vision and a long-standing commitment to the community.
