Our History
It started as Chilvers Meat - a local butcher built on one belief: quality meat, handled with care, is something every family deserves.
John Rua took ownership and built something no other could buy, a reputation. Through honesty and hard work, local families didn't just shop here - they came back every week for premium, locally sourced cuts from people who genuinely cared. That's when Chilvers Meat became RUA Meats.
Coming from healthcare backgrounds, we recognised this mission immediately - because feeding people well is healthcare. We took ownership and opened our butchery and abattoir, taking full control from farm to table.
We opened our retail storefront, bringing fresh, hand-cut meat directly to the community.
Restaurants and caterers came knocking. Our wholesale meat supply grew, delivering bulk orders to the best kitchens around.
We took the butcher online. Fresh meat delivery, straight to your door - no queues, no compromise.
